<SNAP> had new attempt at JeonJu International Sori Festival
<SNAP> by GRUEJARM Productions was officially invited to the "JeonJu International Sori Festival", which was held from September 29 to October 3, 2021.
"JeonJu International Sori Festival" is the largest cultural and artistic festival in JeonJu which be held every fall, covering various genres of music, focusing on Pansori, traditional music, and world music. This festival celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2021.
The fesetival awarded first prize for two-year straight at the Best Awards hosted by the TWMC(Transglobal World Music Chart), a prestigious music review network involving 57 critics and world music from 31 countries.
The theme of the festival was "Sori 20th". The 'Sori' represents traditional Korean music in Korean. '#20' means that the festival is going to show about 20 performances in the 20th anniversary. Since there was risk of COVID-19, the festival was held to protect "With COVID-19" by limiting the number of audience and thorough quarantine procedures when entering.
Our show <SNAP>, which was performed from September 29 to 30, took the stage in a slightly special way. Under the title of "SNAP meets Sori", <SNAP> had collaboration with Korean traditional musician Park Se-mi, and the 'Sori' was combined into the non-verbal performance so that the show became much more attractive.
<SNAP>, mainly using visual stage language without dialogue, made a small but new attempt by meeting Korean traditional music. <SNAP> will continue to have various collaborations and experiments to develop a magic-based narrative and poetic stage language based on this attempt.
